Hi Everyone,
before I get into sharing information on fitness, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, I thought I should introduce myself.
My name is Anna, I am 21 years old, and I am from Germany. In a few days, I will start my third year at the University of Edinburgh, studying Economics. 'Economics?' you might think. 'What does Economics have to do with Fitness?' At the first glance, not much really. Except that the Fitness Industry is quite a lucrative part of the service sector, and that increasing obesity rates negatively impact our health systems, work performance, and overall well-being.
However, Economics is not the only connection that I have to being healthy and happy. I started working out and informing myself about exercise and nutrition about a year ago, and have been an addict ever since. Over the past year, I have been focusing on getting enough exercise (cardio and strength training) as well as nurturing my body with delicious and healthy food. At this time, I got most of my information of the internet, such as Pinterest and other blogs. However, I have to warn you - the internet is not always a reliable source of information if it comes to your health and well-being. My dad used to say: 'Anna, there are two things people have absolutely no idea about: raising children and nutrition.' If you have a look at the Food Industry, and how often they change their recommendations what you should eat, you see that there are a lot of misinformed people out there: eat less fat, eat less carbs, don't eat after 6pm, have diet soda instead....
This is why you should listen to science, and listen to your body. I have learned the hard way that there is no 'one-way-fits-all' solution, and you really have to find out what works for you. I wish that I would have had guidance and support at that time, and that's why I joined the ProFitnessPlans team. Mike is the nicest guy, and a walking book knowing everything about fitness, health and nutrition issues. I love my ProFitnessPlan account, because it gives me customized recommendations that suits my personal circumstances, and the tracking tools really help me focus on my goals. It can be dangerous to jump into losing weight without professional guidance, and I will share some of my pitfalls later on. So if you are ready to make a change, come and join the ProFitnessPlan community and start your healthy life today.
Now, enough with the advertising, this blog is not only for telling you how awesome I think ProFitnessPlans is. It is my aim to share with you some personal experiences, what has worked for me, and what the basics of nutrition and fitness are. The expert knowledge will come from Mike, as he has been studying the human body for years and years. I will add in some tips and tricks on how to stay motivated, the Do's and Dont's and maybe some of my favourite exercises and recipes. Furthermore, I hope to bust some of the myths around what is healthy, so you can get in shape the safe way. If there is anything you would like me to discuss, or you have questions about ProFitnessPlans, please feel free to drop me an email at anna@profitnessplans.com and I will see to it immediately.
I hope I will see you back next week when I will get into the real stuff :)
Enjoy your Weekend!
